Why not increase your chances of winning the EuroMillions?
One way in which you can increase your chances is by playing more tickets!
Unfortunately doing this as an individual costs a lot of money, but by joining one of our syndicates you have all of the benefits of multiple entries, without the cost!
According to official statistics, approximately two out of every three Euromillions lotteries are won by syndicates.
The history of EuroMillions began in 1994. Originally the idea had been to launch this new European Lottery at around the same time as a single European currency but, as often happens, bureaucracy, politics and other miscellaneous factors meant that the plan was delayed a number of times before coming to fruition some ten years later.
EuroMillions is a European lottery that takes place once a week, on Friday evening.
The EuroMillions lottery pools the stakes of the participating European countries. This obviously makes the prizes a great deal larger than in national lotteries even in normal circumstances. But because the main prize pool is “rolled over” to the next draw if there is no jackpot winner, prizes can - after a few weeks without a winner - be as high as €100 million Euros or more. This makes EuroMillions one of the biggest lotteries in the world.
There are nine countries currently participating in EuroMillions. In alphabetical order, these are Austria, Belgium, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
The EuroMillions jackpot keeps growing until won, and can get as high as €100 million or more! See our section on real syndicate winners!
EuroMillions is Europe's biggest-ever, rolling jackpot lottery game and could be considered the biggest jackpot lottery in the world when other factors are taken into consideration, such as prize distribution and taxation. Some lotteries actually pay their big winners over a number of years! EuroMillions is tax free and the whole amount is paid out virtually immediately.
The EuroMillions draw normally takes place every Friday evening in Paris and 5 main numbers are drawn along with 2 Lucky Stars. Match the 5 main numbers and the 2 Lucky Stars and you will win a share of the massive jackpot prize!
The amount of each prize is calculated in accordance with the EuroMillions Game Procedures.
EuroMillions is a pan European lottery launched by the Francaise des Jeux in France, the Loterias y Apuestas del Estado in Spain and Camelot in the United Kingdom on Saturday February 7th 2004. The first draw took place on Friday February 13th 2004 in Paris.
Initially only the UK, France, and Spain were involved, but lotteries from Austria, Belgium, Eire, (Ireland), Luxembourg, Portugal and Switzerland subsequently joined the draw on the 8th October 2004. The first jackpot was worth €15 million Euros. The highest has been over €183,000,000 Euros, which was won by three people. The largest single winner was Delores McNamara who won €115.6 million ($139,000,000 or £77,000,000).
All prizes, including the jackpot, are tax exempt, except in Switzerland, and are paid in a lump sum.
A new EuroMillions rule which was introduced on Friday 6 March, 2009, means that the jackpot will not now be able to exceed €185,000,000. Prior to this the EuroMillions jackpots could, in theory, grow to larger amounts as long as the total number of rollovers didn’t exceed twelve. However the biggest EuroMillions jackpot on record is just short of the new limit at €183 million. We don’t think this really makes much difference to our syndicate members as they would still get almost €9 million Euros each!
